Distinguished Young Alumni Service Award (multiple)

Honoring exceptional young alumni who are making an extraordinary impact on their communities, industries, and alma mater. These trailblazers are not only achieving remarkable success, but are also dedicated to living lives of significance through their passion, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the values of Christopher Newport University. Alumni who graduated between 2012 and 2023 are eligible for this award.

Alumni Achievement Award (multiple)

The Alumni Achievement Award is granted to Christopher Newport graduates for significant accomplishments in professional life or for distinguished service to their community, state or nation.

Jane Chambers Volunteer Award

The Jane Chambers Volunteer Award is granted to a volunteer, who in the opinion of the Alumni Society has brought honor to the University and/or its alumni community through their acts of service. This award comes with a stipend.

The Muriel Millar ’88 Life Well Lived Award

The Muriel Millar ’88 Life Well Lived Award is given posthumously to a graduate who during their life embodied being a Captain for Life. They gave of their time, talent, and treasure in support of both their alma mater and the community they called home. During their lifetime, they lived a life of meaning, purpose, and consequence.

Distinguished Alumni Service Award

The Distinguished Alumni Service Award is granted to a Christopher Newport graduate for specific and commendable service to their University, community, state or nation.Alumni who graduated between 1962 and 2023 are eligible for this award.

Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award

The Distinguished Alumnus Award honors one Christopher Newport graduate who exemplifies the Christopher Newport tradition of excellence and who has brought credit to their alma mater through their personal, professional and community service. Alumni who graduated between 1962 and 2024 are eligible for this award.

Alumni Faculty Award

The Christopher Newport Alumni Society created the annual Alumni Society Award for Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring in 2007 to honor faculty who are exceptionally committed to teaching and learning excellence and to university citizenship.

The prestigious award, which carries with it a stipend of $2,500, is presented each year by the president of the Alumni Society at the Latin Honors Convocation held the evening before commencement.

Past Winners
