Alumni Communities
Our alumni community is built on connecting Captains, engaging professionally while networking to further our careers, enjoying social and cultural activities, mentoring and offering internships to current students, and coming together to support our respective communities. As Captains for Life we always have a home at Christopher Newport, but we can also find a home - closer to our home - in our Regional Alumni Chapters located on the Peninsula of Virginia, South Hampton Roads, Richmond, DC Metro, the Triangle, NC, and Atlanta . You can also connect with other Captains who share the same values and interests through involvement in our Affinity Chapters.
You are never too far from a fellow Captain - learn more about how you can get involved and stay connected!

The First Decaders are a self-run organization of graduates, former students, and professors from the early years of Christopher Newport College. As the foundational members of our alumni community, they are an integral part of our Christopher Newport Alumni Society. Along with being champions of preserving our early history, the First Decaders host an annual signature event to celebrate and honor the foundation of our University at the First Decaders Luncheon each fall.
If you attended, graduated, worked for or taught at Christopher Newport College from 1961-1971, this group is for you! For in depth information about the First Decade of Christopher Newport or to formally join this group, please check out the First Decaders comprehensive website that chronicles the early years of our history.
If you are interested in learning more about our First Decaders, please contact Dr. Jane Chambers at cncmemories61_71@yahoo.com or visit their website.
